The "990v2" was equipped with the latest technology at the time, which made "ABZORB" visible in 1988, achieving excellent shock absorption and stability. This model is a big departure from the classic design of the 990v1 by incorporating more of an upper piece and introducing a forefoot underlay piece that has become an iconic design element of many currently popular New Balance models. Another feature of this shoe is the small N logo, which is rare in the "990" series. The upper is made of a combination of hairy suede and mesh, with a modern design accented with reflective details. New Balance New Balance was founded in Boston in 1906 as a manufacturer of arch support insoles and corrective shoes to correct flat feet. The company name comes from the fact that the shoes bring a sense of "newness and balance" to the wearer. The manufacture of corrective shoes is possible only with a deep understanding of foot anatomy, orthopedics and exercise physiology. Based on this know-how, the company began manufacturing custom-made running shoes in the 1960s. Then in 1972, James S. Davis bought New Balance, which had six employees and a daily production capacity of 36 pairs of shoes. In order to create the ideal running shoe, the young man engaged in development by running himself, and developed the original shoe concept "Instep Racing".
